What is VIP?

Volunteers in Patrol (VIP) is a non-confrontational neighborhood patrol program designed to reduce crime through cooperation between citizens and police. The VIP program allows residents to take an active role in crime prevention by acting as the eyes and ears of the police department. Volunteers donate time to patrol the neighborhood and are trained by the police department to observe, recognize and report suspicious and criminal. The VIP program sends a message that the neighborhood is aware, alert and will not tolerate criminal activity.

What is a patrol like?

Patrols are very easy to work into your everyday schedule. FBW is a small community so each patrol takes very little time. A pair of patrol members drives slowly through each of the streets and alleys, making note of any incidents and calling either neighbors or the police department as appropriate. Being a patrol member is a great way to connect with your neighbors and help increase the safety of your community.

"I really feel that patrol members are an additional pair of eyes and ears for the Dallas PD and provide added protection in our neighborhood. Patrol is time well spent!" BW

"Being on patrol makes you realize just how complacent we had become. I get a real sense of personal accomplishment knowing that our patrols do make a difference and hearing how truly thankful a resident is for our efforts." DS

"We really enjoy patrols – seeing and greeting our neighbors, and feeling like we are helping to keep us safe. More FBW members need to attend the VIP training and share in keeping our neighborhood protected." B&JS
